Only Local Rules 1, 3, 5, 6, 9A and 9B are active. Rules 2, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11 have been rescinded. Rule 5 is the one that governs everyday practice: cancellations, emergencies, discovery conferences, motions to compel, and clerk defaults.
Applies circuit-wide in the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco Counties).
The Sixth Judicial Circuit's local rules are published as a single page; six are active and six are rescinded. ACTIVE: Rule 1 (Divisions of Court) — establishes the circuit's divisions and case categories, provides for appellate oral argument in the court's discretion where complex or novel issues would benefit from argument, and describes the family/Unified Family Court referral structures involving magistrates and hearing officers. Rule 3 (Assignment of Cases) — requires random blind assignment, addresses same-party and companion-case assignment, provides for random reassignment after disqualification unless the Chief Judge directs otherwise, and sends cross-division consolidation or transfer disputes to the Chief Judge. Rule 5 (General Procedures) — covers hearing and trial cancellation, emergency matters, good-faith discovery conferences, motion-to-compel formatting, and nonmilitary affidavits before clerk default. Rule 6 (Clerk Operations / Reports) — requires the clerks to provide case-list and case-management reports used for court administration. Rules 9A and 9B (Electronic Jury Selection) — technical rules governing electronic jury-selection procedures. RESCINDED: Rules 2, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11. Do not cite them.
Rule 5 (General Procedures) — covers hearing/trial cancellation, emergency matters, good-faith discovery conferences, motion-to-compel formatting, and nonmilitary affidavits before clerk default.
The 17th Circuit's circuit-wide AI disclosure/certification mandate (Jan 2026, twice amended) was VACATED in its entirety effective June 15, 2026 by Chief Judge Phillips's AO 2026-19-Gen, expressly citing the statewide framework (AOSC26-12; Rule 2.515(d)(2), SC2026-0673). Several division procedure pages still cite the vacated order.
Every circuit-civil case reviewed within 120 days of commencement and assigned a track (complex, streamlined, or general); case management orders required; firm continuance policy; sanctions for missed deadlines. Rescinds AO 21-09.
Circuit-civil hearing-availability standards: motion calendars ~2 weeks from request; 15-30 min special sets within 45-60 days; longer special sets scale.
