Every division assignment across Columbia, Dixie, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor Counties is set by General Assignment of Judges No. 2026-020. Unlike most circuits' assignment orders, this one is semiannual and lapses on a fixed date.
All seven counties. NOTE: fifteen judges cover seven counties, and a judge's role differs by county — Judge Wesley R. Douglas, for example, takes half of Columbia circuit civil, all of Hamilton circuit civil and family, and Lafayette felony. Single-county attribution of a 3rd Circuit judge is unsafe. Several county judges sit as "Acting Circuit Judge" (Garrett Hill, Sara Carter, Jennifer J. Johnson, Jamie L. Tyndal, Darren K. Jackson).
GAO 2026-020 sets the judicial assignments for the Third Judicial Circuit for July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, "with the exception of any standing assignment orders entered due to conflicts or recusals, and any special appointments made due to extenuating or exigent circumstances by the Chief Judge." It replaces all prior General Assignment orders. A successor order is required for the period beginning January 1, 2027.
The judicial assignments for the Third Judicial Circuit are as follows, with the exception of any standing assignment orders entered due to conflicts or recusals, and any special appointments made due to extenuating or exigent circumstances by the Chief Judge that are not in accordance with the below assignments. ... This order replaces all prior orders of General Assignment of Judges.
The 17th Circuit's circuit-wide AI disclosure/certification mandate (Jan 2026, twice amended) was VACATED in its entirety effective June 15, 2026 by Chief Judge Phillips's AO 2026-19-Gen, expressly citing the statewide framework (AOSC26-12; Rule 2.515(d)(2), SC2026-0673). Several division procedure pages still cite the vacated order.
