Verbatim from https://www.ca.cjis20.org/pdf/MHCBrochureLee.pdf, harvested 2026-07-25; whitespace normalised only. • Health Court as follows [generally stated]: • Must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of Lee County • Be willing to participate voluntarily and to comply with any recommended interven- tions • The individual is considered to be legally competent and statutorily eligible • Have an open misdemeanor or felony in the 20th Judicial Circuit • Must have medical records to substanti- ate an eligible diagnosis within the last 6 months • There must be a clear nexus between mental illness and criminal offense • Must not pose a danger to staff or com- munity • Must meet the DCF definition of an adult with a Serious and Persistent Mental Ill- ness (SPMI), such as: a) Psychotic disorders, including Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorders b) Bipolar disorders c) Major depressive disorders *Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) is defined by • The participant, mental health professionals, and counsel must together agree to the court supervision plan.
