Verbatim from the order, captured live 2026-08-03 from the Duval Clerk's store; whitespace normalised only. • 40.231 shall receive the compensation provided in this section for only those days such juror actua1!y at- tends court and not for those days he remains on call. • Any juror who is excused from jury service at his own request shall not be entitled to receive any compen- sation either for travel or for attendance upon the court. • 40.271 Jury service.- (1) No person summoned to serve on any grand or petit jury in this state, or accepted to serve on any grand or petit jury in this state, shall be dismissed from employment for any cause because of the nature or length of service upon such jury. • (3) A civil action by the individual who has been dismissed may be brought in the courts of this state for any violation of this section, and said individual shall be entitled to collect not only compensatory damages. but, in addition thereto, punitive damages and reasonable attorney fees for violation of this act. • 79·235. '40.29 Clerks to estimate amount for pay of jurors and witnesses and make requisition. -The clerk of the court in and for any county shall make an estimate of the amount necessary during any quarterly fiscal period beginning July 1 and dur- ing each succeeding quarterly fiscal period for the payment by the state of jurors in the circuit court and the county court, of witnesses before the grand jury, and of witnesses summoned to appear before the state attorney with respect to any investigation prior to an indictment being returned or information being filed as a result of such investigation and shall forward each such estimate to the Comptroller no later than the date scheduled by the Comptroller. • S2·L76, pro";des that those pruvisions of that act ~whleh provide fur state assumption of witness fel!'!! which are currently paid by the counties sha\! take effect on a date determined by the appropriation of fund, ior this purpose. ~ 40.30 Requisition endorsed by Comptroller and countersigned by Governor.-Upon receipt of such estimate and the requisition from the clerk of the court, the Comptroller shall endorse the amount that he may deem necessary for the pay of jurors and witnesses during the quarterly fiscal period, which endorsement shall be countersigned by the Governor, and shall tran:;mit that amount by state warrant to the clerk making such requisition.
