Local Rules of Procedure and Rules of Decorum for the Justice of the Peace Courts of Burnet County, Texas (effective January 1, 2023). Chapter 1 — GENERAL: objective, scope, jurisdiction, organization, calendar, and jury selection. Chapter 2 — JUSTICE CIVIL CASES: filing of cases, e-filing, setting cases, demand for jury, provision and costs of copies, self-addressed postage-paid envelopes, postponing trial/continuances, conflicting engagements of attorneys, matters preliminary to trial, recording or broadcasting of proceedings, assignment and transfer of cases, dismissal for want of prosecution (case selection, notice, procedures for relating cases and objecting to motions to retain, retained cases), drafts of judgments and orders, mediation, and holidays. Chapter 3 — CRIMINAL CASES: filing cases, transfer of pending criminal cases, order of transfer, first appearance, appointing of counsel, withdrawal or substitution of counsel, recording or broadcasting of proceedings, jury selection, setting cases (conflicting engagements, pretrial, pretrial motions, jury trial), plea of guilty or nolo contendere, holidays, and magistration. Chapter 4 — ADMINISTRATIVE JURISDICTION: driver's license suspension and revocation hearings, rights of owners and operators of stored vehicles (tow hearings), and other administrative jurisdiction.
