Text — As posted by the Judicial Council of California (read October 22, 2026)
Only the Judicial Council may amend these rules, except the rules in division 7, which may be amended only by the Supreme Court. An amendment by the Judicial Council must be published in the advance pamphlets of the Official Reports and takes effect on the date ordered by the Judicial Council.

Rule 8.13 amended effective January 1, 2024; repealed and adopted as rule 54 effective January 1, 2005; previously renumbered and amended effective January 1, 2007.
