Judge Carothers — good-faith conferral certification required on most motions, expressly broader than Rule 1.202
For most motions other than truly dispositive ones, the movant must certify a good-faith attempt to resolve the issue with opposing counsel or party before filing — a conferral requirement the judge states is broader than Fla. R. Civ. P. 1.202.
Judge Carothers — no piggybacking motions onto scheduled hearings; no notice of hearing before JA confirmation
Additional motions cannot be added to an already-scheduled hearing without clearance from the judicial assistant and opposing counsel, and a notice of hearing may not be filed until the JA confirms the setting; unconfirmed noticed motions will not be heard.
Judge Carothers (Bay County Court) — no phone calls; all communication by email with case number in the subject line
Judge Carothers' office accepts no phone requests for hearing time or order status. Everything goes by email to the judicial assistant with a subject line carrying the case number (with county code), case name, and matter.
