Alexander S. Bokor

Judge Alexander S. Bokor began his service on the Third District Court of Appeal in 2020 after his appointment by Governor Ron DeSantis. The voters of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties retained Judge Bokor in 2022.

Previously, Judge Bokor was appointed by Governor (now Senator) Scott to serve as a circuit judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit from 2018 to 2020, and as a county judge for Miami-Dade County from 2016 to 2018. As a circuit judge, in addition to serving in the civil division, Judge Bokor participated on then-Chief Judge Bertila Soto’s task force charged with pandemic planning, responsible for enabling and implementing remote video appearances and remote evidentiary procedures for all divisions of circuit and county court. Judge Bokor also served as a visiting associate judge on the Fourth District Court of Appeal in March 2020 and served on multiple circuit appellate panels. As a county judge, Judge Bokor served in North Dade, South Dade, and downtown Miami, primarily in the civil division, but also briefly in a criminal misdemeanor/traffic branch division.

Judge Bokor’s professional involvement includes serving as the Third DCA representative to the Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section. He was also appointed by Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz to serve as a member of the Florida Supreme Court Standard Jury Instructions Committee (Contracts and Business). As a speaker or presenter, he has moderated or served as a panelist or presenter in numerous CLEs for bar associations, law schools, colleges, and civic groups, including creating and presenting a CLE on local government under the state constitution for Florida’s most recent Constitution Revision Commission and serving as an invited panelist at the American Board of Trial Advocates Miami chapter’s 2019 “Teachers’ Law School” presented in conjunction with Miami-Dade College and Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Judge Bokor has also presented on a variety of topics including separation of powers, administrative law, professionalism, appellate and civil practice, practicing during the pandemic, and electronic discovery.

As a practicing attorney, Judge Bokor served in both the private and public sectors. From 2008 until his appointment to the bench in 2016, he served as an Assistant Miami-Dade County Attorney focusing on public private partnerships, transit-oriented developments, complex commercial litigation, ad valorem taxation, and tort defense. From 2002 to 2008, he practiced commercial litigation at prominent state and national firms in both New York and Florida. Judge Bokor also clerked for Judge Steven D. Merryday of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Judge Bokor is a proud graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he obtained a B.A. cum laude in history, Foreign Languages (Spanish and German), and Latin American Studies, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he earned his J.D. and served as an editor on the Journal of Constitutional Law.
