Robert Morris has served as an appellate judge on the Second District Court of Appeal since 2009, and previously as chief judge. Before that, he was the chief judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida (Pinellas & Pasco counties) where he had served as a trial judge since 1997. From 2012 to 2024, he served on the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Management Council. He was appointed to three different courts by three different governors: Chiles (D), Bush (R), and Crist (R-I-D).
Before becoming a judge, he practiced law for seventeen years. After a stint as a prosecutor, he became a partner and Florida Committee member with Foley & Lardner, following which he formed his own firm. His practice focused on commercial litigation and transactional corporate, commercial, and real estate law. He also served on the boards of directors of a bank and a hospital. Martindale-Hubbell rated him AV.
Born in Jacksonville, he was raised in Florida and The Bahamas, and graduated from Tarpon Springs High School.
