Thomas Logue

Judge Thomas Logue was appointed to the Third District Court of Appeal in 2012. Since then, Judge Logue has heard thousands of appeals and authored over five hundred judicial opinions.

Before being appointed to the bench, Judge Logue served as an assistant county attorney for Miami-Dade County from 1982 to 2012. For thirty years, he tried jury and non-jury trials in state and federal courts in cases involving the areas of constitutional law, torts, contracts, taxes, civil rights, zoning, real estate valuation, copyrights, and bonds.

For a decade, Judge Logue also taught Florida Constitutional Law as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law and St. Thomas University School of Law. By invitation, he briefed the latest Florida Constitutional Revision Commission on the history of the Florida Constitution. He also served on the faculty of Florida’s Appellate Judges College, where he taught appellate jurisdiction to newly appointed judges, stepping down when he became chief judge.

Judge Logue has received numerous awards, including most recently Florida International University College of Law’s 2025 Judicial Excellence Award, the Miami-Dade County’s 2025 John Marshall Award, and the Cuban American Bar Association’s 2023 Jose Marti Award.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Judge Logue received a B.A. in English Literature, cum laude, from Dickinson College and a J.D. from Duke University, where he served on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal. They recently welcomed their first two granddaughters.
