2025-GEN-011-00 FILED Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles JANUARY 17, 2025 David W. Slayton, Executive Officer/Clerk of Court By: R. Mina, Deputy SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES APPOINTMENT OF TEMPORARY JUDGES IN FAMILY LAW GENERAL ORDER Division 6 of the California Rules of Court (CRC) Rule 2.831, et seq., provides for the appointment of temporary judges. Parties requesting that the Court designate an attorney to serve as a temporary judge on a case are required to submit to the Presiding Judge or the judge designated by the Presiding Judge for approval. Chapter 2 of the Los Angeles County Court Rules, Rule 2.24, subdivision (f), directs parties seeking the appointment of a temporary judge to submit the stipulation and proposed order to the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division. Judicial officers in the Family Law Division are frequently called upon to decide emergency applications for support and custody of children and the temporary use of assets. The Supervising Judge of Family Law is familiar with the attorneys who practice Family Law and the issues presented, and as a result, can more easily streamline the process for approving the appointment of temporary judges in Family Law cases. Transferring responsibility for the stipulations and proposed orders for the appointment of temporary judges in Family Law cases will expedite their assignment and facilitate the efficient handling of urgent hearings. Effective immediately, parties seeking the appointment of a temporary judge in a Family Law case are required to submit the stipulation and proposed order to the Supervising Judge of the Family Law Division. This General Order is to remain in effect until otherwise ordered by the Presiding Judge. DATED: January 17, 2025 ____________________________________ SERGIO C.
