Only sentences containing mandatory language (shall, must, may not, no later than, within N) are reproduced — the full document is in custody and is the controlling text. • JUDGES – DUTY JUDGE RESPONSIBILITIES ______________________________________________________________________ All judges in Seminole County, except the Chief Judge, shall serve as duty judges. • The Court Administrator, or designee, shall prepare a roster assigning the judges in rotation as duty judges for each week of the year. • No judge shall be assigned as duty judge from Thanksgiving Day through the following Sunday and Christmas Eve until New Year’s Day who has previously been assigned to those periods until all other judges have been assigned to them. • The duty judge shall be available from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., to consider domestic violence petitions and after regular business hours and on weekends and holidays to answer calls from Department of Corrections Officers, Probation and Community Control Officers, Seminole County Probation Officers, Juvenile Justice Officers, including Juvenile Assessment Center Officers and other Federal, State or County law enforcement officers and agencies that have reason to need the ex parte services of a magistrate. • The duty judge shall be permanently assigned to any domestic violence or repeat violence action filed during the duty week (1) if the duty judge is a circuit judge and (2) the case is not consolidated with a family case. • These cases shall be assigned to county court judges by separate administrative order. • The duty judge shall conduct first appearance and detention hearings at the County Jail on the weekend or extended weekend that occurs during the duty assignment week, except as stated in Administrative Order 05-03-S.
