Notice of the Ector County Courts at Law to criminal defense attorneys: from February 2023 pre-trial announcements are made in person (e-mailed announcements are no longer accepted), and plea conferences held right after each pre-trial docket call address the cases on the following pre-trial docket.
Texas > Seventh Administrative Judicial Region > Ector County > County Court at Law, County Court at Law No. 2.
TO ALL ATTORNEYS WHO REPRESENT DEFENDANTS IN CRIMINAL CASES IN THE ECTOR COUNTY COURTS AT LAW: Beginning in February, 2023, the County Courts at Law will be changing the Pre-Trial Docket call procedure. The Courts will be implementing a new plea conference system, and therefore all counsel are hereby notified that we will be returning to “in-person” announcements for all Pre-Trial docket calls, and that e-mailing your announcements in lieu of in-person attendance will no longer be permitted. The plea conference system will better facilitate the communication of plea offers from the State to Defense Counsel, and in-person announcements at the Pre-Trial Docket call will ensure that all attorneys will be present for the utilization of the plea conference system, and that all pre-trial matters are resolved prior to moving a case to the Trial Docket. Plea conferences will be held immediately following the Pre-Trial Docket call. Offers presented will be for cases on the following Pre-Trial Docket. For example: on February 14th, 2023, all plea conference offers will be given to the attorneys for cases set on the March 7th, 2023 Pre-Trial Docket. Christopher M.
