The Fort Bend County Jury Plan (Texas Government Code § 62.011, electronic jury selection) is enacted by the Board of District Judges, acknowledged by the County Court at Law Judges, and recommended to the Commissioners Court; a single general juror pool serves the District Courts, the Statutory County Courts, and the Justice of the Peace Courts. The Jury Management Judge provides to the District Clerk by October 1 of each year the jury-trial schedule (dates, times, locations, jurors needed), the schedule of judges responsible for statutory admonishments, the weekly excuse-ruling schedule, and the Order for Petit Jurors. Trial judges provide their jury-trial schedules by September 1, give at least 8 weeks' notice for multiple or special panels, and rule on all excuses (excluding statutory exemptions and disqualifications) and subsequent postponements; District Judges give admonishments and administer the oath for district pools (reporting by 9:00 a.m.), Statutory County Court Judges for county pools (1:00 p.m.), and Justices of the Peace for justice-court pools; special venires require 8 weeks' notice with voir-dire counts and any special questionnaires.
