All felony complaints filed with the District Clerk shall be randomly assigned to a felony district court at the time of filing, and the assigned court acquires jurisdiction over the case for all purposes, including magistrate duties. Cases in which the defendant has a prior connection to a felony district court — a prior conviction, community supervision, bond, or pending case — shall be assigned to the connected court. Re-indictments and re-filings return to the court of the original case. This Order supersedes the direct-filing order of November 5, 1987, and is effective at 9:00 a.m. February 21, 2022. Signed by the judges of the 240th, 268th, 400th, 434th, and 458th District Courts; filed February 21, 2022.
