LITTLEFILED, COUNTY COURT AT LAW NO. 2 ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER REGARDING THE ASSIGNMENT AND TRANSFER OF MENTAL HEALTH CASES Pursuant to the authority vested in the County Courts at Law of Hunt County, Texas, and for the purpose of promoting the efficient administration of justice and the orderly assignment of cases, the following Administrative Order is hereby entered: IT IS ORDERED that: 1. Effective Date. This Order shall become effective on January 1, 2027. 2. Assignment of New Cases. Beginning January 1, 2027, all new mental health proceedings filed in Hunt County, including all matters arising under the Texas Health and Safety Code and any other applicable law governing mental health proceedings, shall be filed in and assigned to Hunt County Court at Law No. 1. 3. Transfer of Pending Cases. All active mental health cases pending as of January 1, 2027, regardless of the court in which they were originally filed, are hereby transferred to Hunt County Court at Law No. 1. The District Clerk and County Clerk, as applicable, are authorized and directed to transfer the files, records, and electronic case information necessary to effectuate this Order. 4. Jurisdiction Following Transfer. Upon transfer, Hunt County Court at Law No. 1 shall assume responsibility for all further proceedings, hearings, orders, and matters pertaining to each transferred case as though the case had originally been filed in that court. 5. Previously Scheduled Hearings. Any hearing scheduled prior to January 1, 2027, shall remain as scheduled unless otherwise ordered by the Court. Hearings scheduled on or after January 1, 2027, shall be conducted by Hunt County Court at Law No. 1 unless otherwise ordered. 6. Clerk's Duties. The Clerk shall take all administrative actions necessary to implement this Order, including updating case assignments, docketing information, and notifying all affected parties, attorneys, agencies, and other interested persons of the transfer of pending cases. 7. Conflicting Orders. To the extent any prior administrative order conflicts with this Order regarding the assignment or transfer of mental health cases, this Order shall control.
