Local Court Rules of the County Courts at Law of McLennan County, Texas (adopted February 16, 2026; amended and effective March 6, 2026), superseding the prior edition. I. General: the County Courts at Law are courts of limited jurisdiction, including original jurisdiction in civil cases where the amount in controversy exceeds $500 but is no more than $250,000, criminal cases (Class A or B misdemeanors, third-degree felonies), probate proceedings, condemnation and mental-health matters, appeals from lower courts, and other matters authorized by law (Tex. Gov't Code secs. 25.0003, 25.1572); the rules are consistent with applicable State rules and do not modify the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, the Code of Criminal Procedure, or any statute; the County Court at Law and County Court at Law No. 2 extend priority to criminal trials, and County Court at Law No. 3 extends priority to civil trials; and the rules may be supplemented, modified or amended by the Judges from time to time, filed in the official 'Local Court Rules' by the County Clerk. II. Local Criminal Rules and further parts govern the criminal and civil practice of the County Courts at Law.
