IN RE: FELONY CRIMINAL CASES OF PANOLA COUNTY, TEXAS 123RD DISTRICT COURT AND COUNTY COURT AT LAW OF PANOLA COUNTY, TEXAS The District Clerk of Panola County, Texas is hereby ORDERED to receive the list of the newly indicted felony criminal cases from grand jury proceedings and to assign the cases to the 123rd District Court and the County Court at Law Court in the following manner: two-third (2/3) of new cases will go to the 123rd District Court and one-third (1/3) will go to the County Court at Law in an alternating manner starting from a randomly selected case from the list, subject to the exceptions stated below: IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the District Clerk shall determine which Court received the last case from the prior grand jury proceedings and assign the first case selected by the District Clerk to the other Court. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any felony criminal case with a defendant that has an existing pending felony case in the 123rd District Court shall be filed in the 123rd District Court. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any felony criminal case with a defendant that has an existing pending felony case in the County Court at Law shall be filed in the County Court at Law. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any felony criminal case with a defendant that is on felony probation in the 123rd District Court shall be filed in the 123rd District Court. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any felony criminal case with a defendant that is on felony probation in the County Court at Law shall be filed in the County Court at Law. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any felony criminal cases involving co-defendants be assigned to the same court. The effective date of this order is November 30, 2022.
