County Court at Law No. 2 does not set final hearings on its own. A self-represented party must complete a typewritten decree settling all issues (no handwritten orders, no electronic signatures) and the Court will not review it for completeness. Before a hearing, either a waiver must be signed and notarized after the petition was filed, or service plus 10 days on file with the answer date passed.

In justice-court eviction cases: the citation sets a personal-appearance trial day not less than 10 nor more than 21 days after the petition is filed; a written answer is permitted but NOT required (appearing on the trial day is what matters); no trial may be held until 4 days after service; and an appeal must be perfected within 5 days after the judgment is signed.
