Standing Order in Limine for Jury Trials of Civil and Family Cases in the Travis County District Courts (effective January 1, 2020), applying to all civil and family cases set for jury trial (references to attorneys and counsel include self-represented parties). Unless and except to the extent the Order is suspended in a particular trial, no attorney shall make mention of, refer to, or suggest any of the matters listed in the Order in the presence or hearing of the jury, the jury panel, or any member, without first approaching the bench and securing a ruling authorizing the reference; attorneys must admonish their clients, clients' representatives and non-party witnesses to comply. The Order enumerates the categories of matters (such as insurance, settlement negotiations, and other prejudicial references) that require a prior ruling before being raised before the jury.
