Under Family Code § 54.012, the 271st District Court and County Courts at Law Nos. 1 and 2 may allow or require remote participation in juvenile detention hearings. Parties may cross-examine witnesses; a witness's camera must give an unobstructed view or the witness may not testify; physical evidence must be displayed to all participants simultaneously; digital copies of evidence are e-mailed to the court, the reporter and counsel before the hearing where practicable, and non-digital evidence is tendered within 7 days after the proceeding.
