Verbatim from the operative section of Eleventh Circuit administrative order 21-01, harvested 2026-08-02; whitespace normalised only. • After such equitable distribution, no cases that are to be reassigned shall be retained or heard by the original judge, except as follows: a. Motions for rehearing or new trial; b. Completion of hearing or trial after judge has commenced taking testimony in the case; c. Disposition of cases tried; and/or d. Good cause. • If all parties in a case desire the original judge to retain a case, the parties - 2 - shall submit a joint motion to the original judge stating specific reasons for retention of the case. If the judge agrees to retain the case, an order will be entered by the Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court Criminal Division, or designee, transferring the case back to the original judge, without the necessity of a hearing. In all other situations, a case shall be placed on a regularly scheduled transfer calendar before the Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court Criminal Division. • The Clerk of the Courts shall immediately notify all attorneys of record as to the reestablishment of Section 08 and the reassignment of any pending cases from Sections 09 and • 7. New case assignments will populate Section 08 in accordance with the established blind filing procedures.
