Verbatim from the order, captured live 2026-08-03 from the Duval Clerk's store; whitespace normalised only. • Proc•dur• for Obtaining Grand and Petit Jurors in ' ’ Q Nassau County, Florida. ui , WHEREAS, the present method of selecting jurors can be expedited without additional expense or loss of the sanctity of § random selection by the use of the electronic computer available for use by Nassau County, and ' WHEREAS, the source of such selection is from the voter registration list which is in computer compatible form and under the custody and control of the Supervisor of Elections, Nassau ‘ County, Florida, it is therefore, RESOLVED that the Procedures of the Fourth Judicial Circuit in all courts of Nassau County in which jury trials are held shall be amended to include this additional procedure adopting the following plan for the selection of persons for grand jury cr petit jury service: • (a) In Nassau County, whenever in the opinion of the Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida it is advisable to do so, the Chief Judge shall in writing direct the -- 1 of 15 -- _ Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county to summon such number of E jurors as may be specified in that direction, to report for service as jurors at the time and place stated in that direction. . § _ (b) Upon receiving that direction, the Clerk shall u cause a computer, data processing equipment, or other mechanical, E electronic or electrical device to select at random the specified number of jurors from the male and female persons at least 18 S years of age who are citizens of this state and who are N registered electors of Nassau County as shown on the data processing equipment records of the Supervisor of Elections of NASSAU COUNTY; to print, address and prepare for mailing a summons to each juror so selected instructing that juror to report at the time and place stated for service as a juror; and to print for use by the Clerk a list of the names and addresses of all jurors so summoned. • No registered elector shall be omitted from being summoned as a juror. • (c) The Clerk shall mail jury summons by first class United States mail, unless the Chief Judge directs that the Sheriff of the county effect personal service on the juror. • Any deficiency or excess of jurors so selected, or any § error of commission or omission in the selection of or serving of any grand or petit juror, shall not affect the legality of the organization of the jury, and no indictment of a grand jury or verdict of a petit jury shall be subject to challenge because of any such error, so long as each juror was a registered elector of the county at the time that juror’s name was selected.
