Verbatim from https://ninthcircuit.org/sites/default/files/AO2024-04-01.pdf, harvested 2026-07-25; whitespace normalised only. • Beginning April 1, 2024, the Clerk shall assign all newly filed cases in subdivisions 71-H and 80-H alphabetically only so as to prevent confusion and inefficiencies, particularly related to companion cases. • The Clerk shall utilize the following assignment convention: • Cases with defendant last names that begin with A through M shall be assigned to subdivision 71-H. • Cases with defendant last names that begin with N through Z shall be assigned to subdivision 80-H. • Each time a closed case is re-opened, the Clerk shall also update the assignment from case number to alphabetic assignment.
