Judge Saenz requests that magistrates, associate judges and Pre-Trial Services impose, at a minimum, for persons arrested on or after January 9, 2026 who are assigned to County Court at Law No. 2 and charged with DWI, assault bodily injury, evading arrest or detention, prostitution, possession of marijuana or possession of a controlled substance: no drugs or alcohol, a chemical-dependency screening with a licensed counselor, compliance with the screening recommendation, and monthly UAs with Pre-Trial Services (UA fees waived); the request does not displace the magistrate's independent assessment under Code of Criminal Procedure arts. 17.15(a) and 17.40, and screenings and recommended counseling are free to the defendant.
