ORDER TO COUNTY MAGISTRATES REGARDING SCREENING FOR MILITARY STATUS AND ASSIGNMENT OF MISDEMEANOR INVOLVED VETERANS TO COUNTY COURT AT LAW NUMBER 6 Bexar County Court at Law Number 6 has been established as a "Veterans Treatment Court" pursuant to Texas Government Code Sections 124.001 through 124.003. In order to ensure maximum efficiency of the Bexar County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) for the timely identification and screening of eligible participants, the County Magistrate on Duty shall ensure that all Defendants are screened for eligibility for the VTC during the arraignment process. The County Magistrate on duty shall inquire whether the Defendant has ever been a member of the United States Military, including a member of the Reserves, National Guard, or State Guard. Every misdemeanor Defendant who is identified at CMAG as a Veteran, or current member of the United States Military, including a member of the Reserves, National Guard, or State Guard, shall be assigned to County Court at Law Number 6, except Veterans with a pending felony or family violence case.
