Standing Order Regarding Deputy Court Reporter Compensation and All Court Reporters’ Records in Criminal Cases with Court-Appointed Counsel, adopted by the District Judges of Caldwell, Comal and Hays Counties (22nd, 207th, 274th, 421st, 428th, 433rd, 453rd and 466th Judicial District Courts; ordered July 6, 2022): (1) Deputy Court Reporters will be paid not more than $600.00 per day, with overtime at $46.00 per hour after 5:00 p.m., and travel expenses not reimbursed unless the reporter does not live in a contiguous county or prior approval is obtained; (2) for Official and Deputy Court Reporters, when there is a court order in a criminal case on appeal where defense counsel is court-appointed, the reporter should prepare an original of the transcript at $3.50 per page plus one copy at $1.15 per page, and shall not charge for a word index without an additional court order; (3) the original record shall be filed with the Court of Appeals and the copy with the District Clerk, and the District Attorney’s Office and court-appointed defense counsel are encouraged to check out the copy from the District Clerk’s file (no extra copy prepared without prior court approval); and (4) all invoices submitted under the order to court administration shall be itemized by each category of fee.
