Unless an affidavit of indigency is filed with the application, effective January 15, 2024, each application filed in County Court at Law No. 5 requiring the appointment of an attorney ad litem must deposit $600.00 into the registry of the Court toward the services of the attorney ad litem (cause 24-CPR-000001; Estates Code §§ 53.104, 1054.001). Applications requiring the deposit: Application for Appointment of Guardian; Application for Appointment of Temporary Guardian; Application for Appointment of Independent/Dependent Administrator and Determination of Heirship; Application for Determination of Heirship; Application for Sale of Property of a Minor by a Parent or a Ward without Guardianship of the Estate; and/or Application for Attorney Ad Litem. The deposit is used to pay court-ordered attorney ad litem fees; excess under $600 is refunded, and orders above $600 state how the additional fee is paid. Signed January 8, 2024 — Hon. Teana V.
