Whereas Tex. Code Crim. Proc. Art. 17.032 provides for release on personal bond of certain defendants with mental illness or intellectual disability, and Tex. Gov't Code Sec. 125.003 provides that a mental health court program may handle all issues under Articles 16.22 and 17.032 and Chapter 46B, Code of Criminal Procedure; and whereas the undersigned Judge granted authority on November 18, 2021 to the Galveston County mental health court program for issues arising under Article 17.032 for cases within the jurisdiction of the 56th District Court: THEREFORE, by the authority of the Judge of the 56th District Court, the above-referenced order dated November 18, 2021 IS HEREBY RESCINDED for the 56th District Court effective immediately. Henceforth, all bond hearings within the jurisdiction of the 56th District Court will be heard by the Judge of the 56th District Court (or his designee).
