Standing Order for Criminal Cases and Jury Trials in the 456th District Court, Guadalupe County (effective February 1, 2024; all references to 'counsel' include self-represented litigants). For any case set on the Criminal Non-Jury docket, the following control pretrial matters absent further order: any counsel who has a client in custody in the Guadalupe County Jail shall report to docket in Guadalupe County first prior to proceeding to other counties. For any case set on the Jury docket, the following control trial matters absent further order, and failure to observe them is deemed a waiver of any motion or evidence not in compliance: (a) all requested video redactions must be ruled upon or agreed by the end of the Announcement Docket for the case and completed prior to the beginning of voir dire (redactions not requested, ruled upon and/or agreed by the end of the Announcement Docket are waived); (b) counsel for the State and Defense shall provide a proposed jury charge or proposed jury instructions prior to the beginning of voir dire; and (c) at the conclusion of the evidence, counsel for the State and Defense shall remain in the courtroom while the jury charge is discussed and changes are made, all parties present while the charge is reviewed and corrected, and at the conclusion of the charging conference both sides given an opportunity to make final preparations for closing arguments while the Court prints the final jury charge.
