Amendment to the Rules of Procedure and Practice in the 82nd District Court, Falls and Robertson Counties (Bryan Russ, Jr., District Judge; filed August 21, 2024), amending the local rules adopted January 1, 2019. Section VII, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: the use of artificial intelligence, in any form, is prohibited in the 82nd Judicial District without a prior order of the Court granting and authorizing the use of such devices. Section VIII, USE OF ZOOM: no case will be tried by Zoom, and all attorneys and witnesses shall appear in person for trial before a jury or the Court; if counsel wishes to sponsor a witness via Zoom at a motion hearing, prior approval must be obtained and opposing counsel given an opportunity to object, and it is within the Court's discretion to allow a witness by Zoom after good and sufficient cause is presented (inconvenience due to distance or traffic is not good or sufficient cause). Section IX: in a case involving the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and after a duly made request approved by the Court, counsel may on occasion appear by phone as an exception, not the general rule; all counsel are normally expected to personally appear in the 82nd Judicial District Court.
