Tex. Est. Code § 1054.051 · Subchapter B. GUARDIANS AD LITEM
APPOINTMENT OF GUARDIAN AD LITEM IN GUARDIANSHIP PROCEEDING.
Text — Current through the 89th 2nd Called Legislative Session, 2025
(a) Subject to Subsection (b), the judge may appoint a guardian ad litem to represent the interests of an incapacitated person or proposed ward in a guardianship proceeding.
(b) A person appointed as a guardian ad litem may not be:
(1) an interested person, as defined by Section 1002.018(1); or
(2) an attorney ad litem appointed for the guardianship proceeding except as provided by Section 1054.052, 1202.101, or 1203.051.
