The amended rules of practice of the First Judicial District Court, which by agreement serves Jasper, Newton, San Augustine and Sabine Counties: jurisdiction (either judge may sit in either court), the central docket and numerical docketing of civil cases, criminal filing and indictment procedures, and juvenile jurisdiction resting with the First Judicial District Court.

By agreement the jurisdiction of the District Courts of Jasper and Newton Counties extends to all cases and either judge may sit in either court. A central docket is used in each county; civil cases are docketed numerically in filing order; criminal cases may be filed and indictments returned in the First District Court; primary juvenile jurisdiction rests with the First Judicial District Court.
