GUIDELINES FOR KINNEY COUNTY HEARINGS English Only Courtroom • Only the Court-Assigned Interpreter will be allowed to communicate with the defendants using any language other than English • Notices of Assignment will be required to be entered into the Kinney County Clerk's file AND provided to Court Administrator at least two (2) business days before any and all hearings. • Only one (1) Attorney will be recognized to represent a Defendant and only one (1) Attorney will be recognized to represent the State. • No animals allowed during Court proceedings or in the presence of any Zoom camera. EXCEPTION: Certified Service Animals • All participants will observe Court Room ethical behavior and demeanor and will be respectful o All Defendants will be fully clothed o All Defendants will be seated and remain stationary o No one other than the Defendant will appear in hearing on utilized device o No unseemly behavior will be allowed o No smoking or vaping • Discussions between Counsel and Defendant will take place outside of the courtroom in a breakout room provided by the Court. IF the Defendant is still incarcerated, Counsel must contact the Segovia or Briscoe units directly to establish a set meeting time. • Address all participants with respect. • All plea documents and Waivers of Arraignment are REQUIRED to be filed three (3) business days before a scheduled hearing on a plea agreement. • Counsel should review the process for joining Zoom and accessing the interpretation features with all Defendants before scheduled Court setting.
