Taylor County Clerk local rules addendum of September 20, 2023, signed by the County Court judge and the judges of County Courts at Law No. 1 and No. 2: cases are assigned between the County Courts at Law by the first initial of the defendant's, decedent's or proposed ward's last name (A-K Court at Law No. 1, L-Z Court at Law No. 2); physicians' statements in guardianship cases are sealed unless the court orders otherwise in writing; the clerk does not roll back docket or file dates of e-filed documents returned for correction; proofs of death and oaths of executors, administrators and guardians may be notarized before the appointment hearing; applications for independent administration and to determine heirship are filed separately with separate orders; cases transferred between these courts keep the same cause number.

Rule 2: In Guardianship cases filed in County Court, County Court at Law and County Court at Law #2, all Physician’s Statements are sealed documents and are not available to the public, unless a written Order is received from the Court in which the case is filed. Implemented September 13, 2013. Rule 3: In the Electronic filing system, the County Clerk will not roll back Docket Dates/File Dates if a document was returned to a filer for correction in Civil, Probate & Guardianship cause/case numbers. Implemented January 1, 2015. Rule 4: Proofs of Death and Oaths/Declarations of Executors, Administrators and Guardians can be notarized before their appointment in Court. All appointments will still be sworn in during the hearing in Court. The file date after the hearing will activate their appointment. Formal confirmation Implemented May 17, 2017. Rule 5: Probate Applications for Independent Administration and Applications to Determine Heirship cannot be combined into one Application. They must be filed as two separate Applications and must submit two separate Orders. Implemented March 2, 2022. Rule 6: Probate, Guardianship, Civil and Misdemeanor cases transferred from County Court to a Court at Law or from one County Court at Law to the other County Court at Law shall retain the same cause/case number.
